Water for Wildflowers is a zine project I made in 2019 while working at Bushwick Community Darkroom. I always carried a small tan notebook stuffed with prints in my back pocket, and I’d rearrange them on the train. I scanned the notebook to give the zine a texture of something worn and well-loved. I added drawings on the front cover and wrote a poem to separate the black-and-white and the color sections: this feeling of being stuck in between consumed me. I was becoming but not yet fully arrived in adulthood, waiting for and wanting love but struggling with identity and what I wanted from life. I photographed to understand my place in the world.
