The photographs in this series were made over a span of about 5 days in June 2016, Baltimore during a larger road trip around the US. I developed many of these negatives in hotel bathrooms as a way to check progress, but also out of sheer joy and love of craft—I was 23, doing something exciting that I felt mattered. I had been profoundly impacted by the death of Freddie Gray in 2015 and wanted badly to go to Baltimore for myself.
