In 2016, I brought an instax camera with me on a road trip around the US. I used this “instant” film mostly for fun in addition to 35mm and medium format film, which I had to wait to process until after the trip. Some b&w film, like my Harwood series, I developed in motel bathrooms during the trip as a way to check my progress—also through sheer excitement of being on the road. The instax images began to serve as a diary that marked my progress moving across the country.
